An Update – April 29, 2024

Dear Reader,

Thanks for being a part of our growing community of people who love to learn, get their hands dirty, and come together around good things in our area. It’s been our pleasure to see SEE through the seasons with all its forms and flavors. Watching a garden, an outdoor classroom, and a community of teachers and learners take shape has been nothing short of incredible. We are grateful for every single person who has supported SEE over the past four years. Colorado Springs doesn’t always feel like a place where connection with the natural world and other people is easy, but it’s been absolutely affirming to see the resonance of SEE’s mission within so many people in such a short time.

As you may know or are about to discover, SEE lives on land we call The Shire at Old Ranch. This name was given by the family who has been working diligently for the better part of a decade to transform this little rural oasis into a sustainability demonstration site complete with agricultural, educational, and community elements. That work is finally bearing fruit and The Shire at Old Ranch” will be going before the Board of County Commissioners later this year in efforts to pave the way for this unique social venture to take form. This means change, and change isn’t always comfortable.

With this transformation underway, it’s prudent for SEE to halt its operations on the land and await the glorious site improvements that will come with The Shire at Old Ranch. It’s with a heavy heart, and an eye toward the future, that we close down operations. We’re looking forward to the promise The Shire at Old Ranch holds.

Click here to sign up for email updates if you’d like to tune in to The Shire at Old Ranch as it moves toward a hearing with the Board of County Commissioners.

As things progress, you’ll also find updates posted on www.theshireatoldranch.com

We hope you’ll stay tuned for the next chapter! Till then, keep growing!

Sincerely,

The SEE Board of Directors
